Fuel for the Journey

Fuel for the JourneyWe are all on a journey. Every part of the journey has a song. It resonates within us or around us as we understand our stage and season.

Some songs come from a panoramic vision, some from deep valleys, some catch us by surprise.

Some jar like a twisted ankle until we slow down to heal.

And sometimes a song comes from the other side of the river. A river we have to cross to find it. No boat. Not life line. We just have to trust and step into it.

But the song is always worth it.

Look up
The future does not have to be like the past. Looking up can give a fresh perspective. Circumstances you find yourself in today do not have to determine everything.

Love has overcome
Love has a lot of romantic images. But sometimes love is a call to battle. We bend our knee and pledge allegiance. We march behind our champion to take the wide open spaces.

Surrender
There are 150 Psalms in the bible and a million since. Here is one more.

There you are

Psalm 139 says that if we go to the furthest ocean and deepest depths – God is still there. There is always the invitation to see the God who, in Francis Schaeffer’s words, IS there.

Be Still and Know
In 1999 young children climbed slippery Timor slopes to escape militia troops as they waited for help – for salvation. A nation linked prayers with people across the globe. Australia rose in prayer, faith and courage to truly help their neighbor. And this song was the theme of my prayers.

For You
When the spotlight comes our soul is laid bare. Nothing is hidden. The only freedom is to tell the truth and let God’s nail scarred hands lift us to a place of healing and freedom.

How Majestic
Matt went to PNG and saw God’s power manifest in an incredible way. He wrote this song as people came to Christ and were set free. Every time our church sings this song something changes in the atmosphere. It’s where the river divides before us, God’s glory is seen and we realise how great our God is.

Leaves at My Feet
Each season brings us around again to a place that we knew before and we hope is different. Sometimes we are, sometimes we are not. But the seasons keep rolling until we understand the grace that covers us and lifts us – and our wounds become our testimony.
