Journey Youth

MADyouth is part of the Youth Ministry of The Journey Christian Church, Elizabeth Downs, for teenagers in (currently) year levels 7-11 (~twelve to sixteen year olds).
The whole point (mission) of MADyouth is to MakeADifference! To do this we –
“Help Young People know and follow Jesus as He redeems the world!”
The leadership team are passionate about seeing youth have ‘life to the max’ and we welcome parental input and support to this end. We have been delighted in seeing our young people really flourish through their participation in this group, and love meeting new youth and their families.

To achieve this mission, we run a (usually) Tuesday afternoon program that includes fun activities that help build relationships, confidence etc, alternating with age-appropriate talks on various life issues, from a biblical perspective. Generally the cost is $2 (for snacks, etc), but we may have to charge a little more for more expensive activities. We also offer care and support to the youth during the week, offering them another avenue for talking through all the many issues that teenagers today face. We can be a listening ear for you too!

On occasion, other youth related functions, both inside and outside our Church’s ministry come up (e.g. Youth Alive, camps) that we invite the youth to attend.

We have high expectations for behaviour at MADyouth, as we believe it should be a safe and supportive environment for all. We do not permit the consumption of drugs or alcohol at any of our activities, and we are very careful about the content of all that we offer the youth.

Illuminate

Illuminate is for 11-15 year olds, Friday nights from 7-9 pm at the Golden Grove Campus of The Journey Chrisitan Church. The cost is usually $3 per night except when we go out to special events.  We do a whole bunch of stuff including ice-skating, debating, water games, rock-climbing, Capture The Flag, Gladiators, sleepovers as well as trying to give a foundation in Christ and biblical knowledge.

Friday nights, 7-9pm at The Journey Christian Church unless otherwise specified. 
 
Week 1: Genesis  
Friday July 25th. Cost: $3. We're baaaack. Games, info and the year in review. Meet Baby Grace!  
Week 2: On Strike
Friday August 1st. Cost: $15. Bowling at Village Bowl. 2 games, shoe hire, coke optional
Week 3: Outside Ourselves
Friday August 8th. ***No cost*** Last term we looked at the plight of Aboriginies in Australia. So what's next? Our guest speakers will help us work that out.
Week 4: Drinks Are On Us, But The Food's On You
Friday August 15th. Cost: $4. Welcome back for Extreme Food Games. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl. It's a serious possibility. Wear clothes you can get dirty and bring a towel!!!
Week 5: Thanks A Latte
Friday August 22nd. Cost: $3, extra for more drinks. Café night, featuring music, games and a special guest speaker.
Week 6: Illuminate's EXO-llent Adventure.
Friday August 29th. Cost: $10 - EXO DAY, Paradise Church. Meet at 6pm at The Journey!
Motocross, Preston Centuolo and some awesome bands. Exo Day is here again. Strictly for those who can and will ROCK OUT. More details as they are available.
Week 7: Manpower/Girlpower
Friday September 5th. Cost: $3
Week 8: School Of Rock part 1
Friday September 12th. Cost: $3. Bring your musical instruments and talent. We'll have specialists on hand to help you learn a bit more about how to be a musical genius.
Week 9: School of Rock part 2
Friday September 19th. Cost: $3. Bring your musical instruments and talent as we perform and film our very own Illuminate music video.
Week 10: They can take our lives...but they can never take...our FLAG!
Friday September 26th. Cost $3. Capture The Flag. No further explanation required.
*********SPECIAL SCHOOL HOLIDAY EVENT*********  
SAYCO Youth Camp
Saturday October 4th - Monday October 6th. 
 
SAYCO is a youth camp run by the Uniting Church as a follow-up event to the popular KCO. It is for people aged 12-15 years (don't worry 11-year olds, we can organize to get you coming along).
