MAD Youth
MADyouth is part of the Youth Ministry of The Journey Christian Church, Elizabeth Downs, for teenagers in (currently) year levels 7-11 (~twelve to sixteen year olds). The whole point (mission) of MADyouth is to MakeADifference! To do this we -
"Help Young People know and follow Jesus as He redeems the world!" The leadership team are passionate about seeing youth have ‘life to the max' and we welcome parental input and support to this end. We have been delighted in seeing our young people really flourish through their participation in this group, and love meeting new youth and their families.
To achieve this mission, we run a (usually) Tuesday afternoon program that includes fun activities that help build relationships, confidence etc, alternating with age-appropriate talks on various life issues, from a biblical perspective. Generally the cost is $2 (for snacks, etc), but we may have to charge a little more for more expensive activities. We also offer care and support to the youth during the week, offering them another avenue for talking through all the many issues that teenagers today face. We can be a listening ear for you too!
On occasion, other youth related functions, both inside and outside our Church's ministry come up (e.g. Youth Alive, camps) that we invite the youth to attend.
We have high expectations for behaviour at MADyouth, as we believe it should be a safe and supportive environment for all. We do not permit the consumption of drugs or alcohol at any of our activities, and we are very careful about the content of all that we offer the youth.
